Park Place

As discussed in the Family Mediation Section of this site, sharing the cost of one lawyer in a mediation is a good way to keep fees down, as family lawyers charge by the time that is spent on your case.

We have different hourly rates, or fees,  for each of our lawyers. Fees would be discussed with you when you seek information regarding either a mediation for yourself and your spouse, or an initial consultation for yourself once you decide you wish to get some advice. The same fee schedule would apply if you decide to retain one of our lawyers.

We do not offer free initial office consultations for family law matters. A fee  for any such consultation is  based on each  lawyer’s  hourly rate.

As with most other law firms we do offer free consultations for  personal injury (ICBC) cases and for some other types of cases.

If you participate in an initial consultation on a family law matter from any lawyer of the firm, we are not subsequently able to act as a mediator on your case, as neutrality is deemed as compromised. If you wish one of our lawyers to be your individual advocate, conversely, any of our lawyers cannot see you with your spouse as, again,  in that context we are deemed as not impartial.

We strive to be explicit about what fees, out-of-pocket expenses, and taxes you can expect to be charged, and encourage our clients to ask about fees at any point. You will be told what you can do to help keep your fees reasonable in your case.
